The 5 Golden Rules of Photo Organising

The DIY Photo Organising Course is based on the 5 Golden Rules of Photo Organising. Each module in the course focuses on one Golden Rule. You can work through them in order or choose the ones that matter most to you.

Golden Rule 1: Back Up

In this module, you’ll learn:
• How to protect your photos before you organise anything
• Why backing up comes first
• Simple, realistic backup options
• How to reduce fear of loss so organising feels safer

Completing this one module can bring immediate peace of mind.

Golden Rule 2: Know Your Why

In this module, you'll learn:
• About why you’re organising your photos
• How your “why” guides decisions and prevents overwhelm
• Why there’s no single right outcome

Knowing your why makes every other step simpler.

Golden Rule 3: Create a Photo Hub

In this module, you’ll learn:
• How to bring your photos into one trusted place
• What a photo hub is, and why it matters
• Options for different devices and systems
• How to choose a setup that works for you

A photo hub creates clarity and stops photos from feeling scattered.

Golden Rule 4: Sort & Organise

In this module, you'll learn:
• Practical approaches to sorting
• How to avoid over‑organising
• Ways to make progress without doing everything

You’re encouraged to work at your own pace and stop when you’ve done enough.

Golden Rule 5: Do Something

In this module, you'll learn:
• Simple ways to enjoy and share your photos
• How to create meaning without big projects
• Why doing something is often more important than doing everything

This module helps your photos move back into your life.
